The overall purpose of an animal care assistant is to admit, care for and rehome unwanted, sick, injured or abandoned animals which come into the RSPCA care. It is the role of the animal care assistant to advise new potential owners and other members of the public of the care and welfare needs of animals in question.

The animal care assistant are to work as part of a dedicated team to provide care to all animals within the branch, both inside the animal centre and outside in foster homes. It is the role of an Animal care assistants to ensure the animal centre delivers excellent, professional customer service to all and answer any animal queries, match and rehome animals effectively.

Retail assistant

We are looking for a dynamic individual to work in our Royton, Oldham and Springhead shops supporting the Cluster shop Manager.

If you have a passion for animals and want to make a difference to their welfare whilst working in a busy thriving retail shop we are waiting to hear from you.

You will work to provide a support role to the Charity Shop Manager in pursuit of the smooth running of the shop operation and achievement of the financial sales targets, through assistance with the daily operational procedures to required standards of performance.

Volunteer Trustees

Are you passionate about animal welfare?

We have an ongoing requirement and are looking for unpaid Volunteer Trustees to manage the affairs of the RSPCA Bury, Oldham & District Branch to promote and provide animal welfare within the branch area.

As a trustee of a branch, you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals. The position is home based, and non-operational and meetings generally take place in Oldham. These meetings are for 1 to 2 hours per month, but need trustees that can assist the branch with specific skills also.

We are particularly interested to hear from anyone that has particular skills or expereince in finance, fundraising, H&S, social media, press and websites.

The Branch has 32 paid staff and around 150 volunteers. We have a large animal rehabilitation and rehoming centre based near the idyllic Strinesdale Reservoir in Oldham. At the animal centre, we also run specific public access veterinary clinics.

The branch is self-funding, independent charity licenced by the RSPCA and income to the branch is currently via donations, legacies, clinics, fundraising and a network of retail shops in Bacup, Bury, Glossop, Oldham, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom, Rawtenstall, Royton, Shaw, and Springhead.
